The Cockburn Basketball Association is proud to announce the appointment of Simon ‘Commish’ Petersen to the role of Basketball Development and Administration Manager.
‘Peto’ comes to the Cougar Family with a strong reputation inside the West Australian basketball community.
As a former Cockburn Basketball employee in the early 2000’s, Petersen is no stranger to Wally Hagan Stadium.
He has spent the past decade as the man responsible for the growth of the Lakeside Recreation Centre’s competition, while simultaneously building rock-solid links with the referee community of Western Australia.
Petersen is an experienced coach, having coached a number of different WABL teams, while also assisting Andy Stewart in the State Basketball League program during Lakeside’s incredible era of success.
The Cougar Family is experiencing an unprecedented rate of growth, and Petersen knows how exciting that is for our proud community.
“We want people to walk through the doors at Wally Hagan, and think, ‘wow, this fits me perfectly”, Petersen said.
“The Cougar Family is shaping a unique family pathway for basketball in this state, and I can’t wait to get started.
“Travis French (President), Tyrone Thwaites and the wider team have shifted the dial at Cockburn, which gives me a lot of confidence to begin this new challenge.”
Petersen will commence officially on March 3, and the Cougar Family welcomes both Simon and his wife Natalia to an exciting new future at Wally Hagan Stadium.
