The Cockburn Basketball Association is excited to announce the signing of John Thomas (JT) Harris for the 2020 State Basketball League season – a 6-foot-6 forward out of Dallas Baptist University.
Harris comes to the Cougar Family as a highly sought after prospect across the league, and is set to make an immediate impact at Wally Hagan Stadium.
Head Coach Andrew Cooper knew another dynamic scorer alongside five-time Cougar Most Valuable Player Gavin Field is going to add another dimension to the group.
“JT gives us a new level of athleticism,” he said.
“He’s a 6-foot-6 scorer, both outside and off the bounce. There’s no doubt he is going to require attention from opposition defences, which is going to make it a lot harder to guard Bob (Field) and LT (Travers) in 2020.
“His ability to play at both ends is something that can’t be undervalued either. He’s a defensive presence, something we’ve lacked in previous years.
“He is an athlete of high chracter, and adds to a group now capable of guarding all five spots while creating match-up issues for opposition teams.”
Harris averaged nearly 12 points and six rebounds per game in his senior year at Dallas Baptist University, while also going 44.3% from outside the arc.
The Cougar Family will welcome JT and his wife Shelby from early March – in time for round one of the State Basketball League season for our Cougar men.
