The Cockburn Basketball Association (CBA) is excited to confirm Wally Hagan Stadium will begin a gradual opening of activity in groups of no more than 20 people from Monday May 18.

This marks CBA’s first step towards normal operation, with activity limited to suit State Government restrictions and under direction of the City of Cockburn and Basketball WA.

CBA has been working to ensure all requirements are met for an introduction of activity for Monday when WA enters Phase 2 of the McGowan government’s Covid-19 Roadmap.

It is important to note that management will ensure strict hygiene and social distancing apply to all activities, and review activities as directed by Basketball WA, the City of Cockburn and State Government at any time.

What does this mean for you?

All activity will be strictly capped at 20 participants.

What now?

We ask for that Cougar Family patience inside each of you as we move towards a ‘new normal’.

There will be different protocols, processes and challenges that everyone will face. Please ensure your family remain excited about the return of our sport and work patiently with us.

A summary of key conditions that must be met upon entry of Wally Hagan Stadium in training groups will be communicated next week. It is important to remember all dates are subject to change or delay at any time.

Below is a reminder of the principles guiding our Cougar Family’s decision making:

  • Safety and Compliance for all staff and members – in line with the BWA basketball framework and City of Cockburn expectations.
  • Sustainability and viability of our Association’s operations.
  • Careful consideration of the number of barriers facing re-entry into the sport for some families in our community.
  • Communication that is connected to our mission, correct and clear. We want to make sure you understand ‘the path out and beyond’
  • Innovation that is connected to our values and adds to our family.

Basketball is on the road back, and we can’t wait to have the Cougar Family safely inside Wally Hagan Stadium
