The City of Cockburn recently released their Western Suburbs Sporting Precinct Study. It is essentially an investigation into a number of sites in the western ward of Cockburn – including Dixon Park where our own Wally Hagan Stadium stands.

The City released three high-level concept plans for Dixon Park and Wally Hagan Stadium. These designs are currently undergoing community consultation and feedback. If you would like to review the designs in detail, please click HERE.

This is where we need you!

The link to the feedback survey is available here and we need as many of the Cougar Family as possible to complete it:  https://comment.cockburn.wa.gov.au/sports-draft-western-suburbs-sporting-upgrade

While completing the survey, we need you to answer the following way for the DIXON PARK AND WALLY HAGAN site to ensure the Cougar Family is aligned with a single approach:

1. STRONG SUPPORT for CONCEPT PLAN 1
2. DO NOT SUPPORT for CONCEPT PLAN 2
3. SUPPORT for CONCEPT PLAN 3

In brief (each concept is clickable):

Concept 1 – A brand new stadium built adjacent to the existing CBA (first preference – strongly support)

Concept 2
– A brand new stadium built OVER the current site of the CBA (third preference – do not support)

Concept 3 – A redevelopment of the existing Wally Hagan Stadium (second preference – support)

Under the ‘comments’ section on the survey, please indicate the following:

For Wally Hagan Stadium and Dixon park, it is essential the Cockburn Basketball Association has:
1. Six courts on completion, with the ability to expand to eight
2. The unique elements of Wally Hagan Stadium are recreated in a new or redeveloped facility (bar, sponsorship facilities etc..)
3. Cockburn Basketball Association is NOT relocated during any part of the redevelopment process.
3. We are Australian Junior Championships Compliant (as per Basketball Australia guidelines)
4. CBA remains the primary tenant of the facility.
5. We are accessible to ALL members of the public, including those in wheelchairs.

The survey closes August 24th and it is essential we get as much of the Cougar Family as possible united behind the CBA’s approach! After all, this benefits everyone who is proudly associated with the Cougars.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
